Silverdale community church

A community that:

  • Believes the one God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- has created all things.
  • Is centered in Jesus Christ the Savior of the whole world through the power of His cross and resurrection.
  • Is empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship and praise God and spread the gospel by words and actions.
  • Acknowledges the authority of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible.
  • Recognizes the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed as life giving confessions of the Christian faith.

Acts on beliefs by affirming that:

  • Everyone,  regardless of their station or circumstances in life, has been made in  the image of God and deserves dignity, justice, and respect. We denounce  as sin racism, sexism, and other discrimination against any person.  Life is a holy gift of God whose beginnings and endings are set by God,  and it is the duty of believers to protect those who may be powerless to  protect themselves. (Genesis 1-2, 2:7, Leviticus 19:32, Deuteronomy 16:19-20, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 11:41-44, 19:9, Colossians 3:11).

  • God  has called us to share His concern for all people. We are called to  improve the quality of life and opportunities for everyone. (Leviticus 19:9-10, Matthew 25:37-40, Luke 6:20-25, James 2:1-5).

  • Human  sexuality is a gift from God that is to be affirmed through a spiritual  covenant of a loving and monogamous marriage between one man and one  woman.  Expressions of sexual behavior, such as pornography, polygamy,  and promiscuity, that seek to exploit, abuse, objectify, degrade, or  that represent less than God’s intentional design for His children are  wrong. We affirm the redemptive grace of Jesus and commit to being a  place of refuge, hospitality, and healing for any who may have  experienced brokenness in their sexual lives (Genesis 1:27, 2:24, Exodus 20:14, Matthew 19:3-9, 1 Corinthians 6:9-20, Ephesians 5:22-33).

  • Children,  whether through birth or adoption, are a sacred gift from God, and we  accept responsibility to protect and nurture the youngest among us,  particularly against such abuses as enforced child labor, involuntary  conscription, human trafficking, and other harmful practices. (Deuteronomy 4:9-10, Psalm 127:3-5, 1 Timothy 5:4, 8:16).

  • The  rule of justice and law in society supports the right of individuals to  live without discrimination or persecution based on their gender,  economic status, ethnicity, tribal identity, age, immigration status,  religious beliefs, or political views.  This community commits to work  to reduce the bitterness that has overflowed in God’s world (Genesis 12:1, Isaiah 1:17, 11:1-9, Matthew 5:44, 2 Corinthians 13:11, Romans 8:35, Ephesians 2:19-10).

  • The  practice of the Golden Rule, treating others as we would wish to be  treated, can effectively guide our social and business relationships. We  seek to cultivate the mind of Christ and a heart for others (Matthew 7:12, Romans 12:1-2)

About the church

Silverdale Community Church is ...

Holy Spirit:  Silverdale Community Church has a passion for God's power and immediacy  through his Spirit in worship, prayer, and everyday life. We value  hands-on prayer and see miracles on a regular basis including physical  healings. We encourage all of our people to get trained to offer these  simple blessings to their friends, family, and members of the larger  Kitsap community.

You will find the Holy Spirit here.  The Spirit of God is often neglected or ignored in American churches.

Cross-Cultural Church:  In 2010, Christian Bible Fellowship, a lay-initiated,  non-denominational new church start for Filipinos in the Kitsap area,  merged with then SUMC, now Silverdale Community Church. Today we are a  diverse fellowship worshiping together. We currently include bilingual scripture readings as a reminder of our global identity as the Body of

Generation Next: Silverdale Community Church is a sweet spot for seniors, and we seek to grow in our ministry for today's young adults.  Since 2016, we have been a part of Pivot Northwest, a Lilly Endowment  initiative to explore why millennials are largely turned off by  organized religion in America. If you are under the age of 40 and want  to help build something new, there is an opportunity for you with us!

Those In Need: While we love worship and Bible study and being together as Christians, we also have a heart for those who struggle in life. Hallowed Grounds Cafe was founded in 2010, and offers weekly dinners every Tuesday night free  of charge in partnership with foodlifeline.org. We also operate an  in-house Food Bank and our Clothing Closet during this time. Beginning  in 2016, Silverdale Community Church has been serving as a Severe  Weather Shelter location in partnership with Kitsap County; homeless  people have been able to sleep in our facility on nights when the  county's system is activated during the winter.

Mission Connected:  May  7, 2023, a historic disaffiliation vote by church members and the  Pacific Northwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church led  us to change our mission connectedness.  May 9, 2023, The Global Methodist Church accepted this church into this body of believers. The Global Methodist  Church is a newly formed and rapidly growing global Christian  denomination with a deep commitment to spreading the Gospel, nurturing  faith, and serving communities worldwide. We are dedicated to living out our Christian values through transformative ministries, discipleship,  and advocacy. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
